Complete Children's Python : A Comprehensive Guide to the Natural History, Care, and Breeding of Antaresia species

Rate this book
The genus Antaresia, a group commonly referred to as Children's pythons, can be found across the continent of Australia and a small portion of neighboring New Guinea. This group, comprised of the Children's python (A. children, the spotted python (A. macula), pygmy python (A. perthensis) and Stimson's python (A. stimsoni), contain the smallest pythons in the world. Despite their small size, these snakes are ideally suited to life in the often-harsh climates of their native habitats. These two factors - size and durability - have made this group popular among python keepers for many years. THE COMPLETE CHILDREN'S PYTHON is dedicated to all aspects of this amazing group of snakes with particular emphasis on natural history, biology and reproduction. The authors have beautifully illustrated the immense diversity and natural beauty contained within wild populations of these pythons. This group has been underrepresented in herpetological literature despite being one of the world's most successful and widespread python genera.

I would give this book 6 stars if I could. I read the book because I have wanted to add the smallest speices of pythons, Antaresia perthensis, to my collection for a while. The book is filled with beautiful photos and solid husbandry advice. Antaresia are in my future and this book will be a treasured tome on my shelf.

A great book to understand the different species and how to breed them, but unfortunately not much on general husbandry, which is what I was looking for.
