Although an incredibly easy read, you will want to take your time and really capture all the juicy, golden nuggets this book has to offer, and then read it over and over again!
This book has 8 gorgeously-designed chapters, and each chapter contains one step that teaches you one new way to explore yourself, your creativity, and your inner self more deeply. They start with Jenny’s personal and endearing anecdotes, and then move into guided teachings through instruction, reflection, writing prompts, mindfulness exercises, and creative expression practices. This book gets real, ya’ll!
The best part?! NO art experience is needed!! Finally a book about healing through art, without emphasis on becoming or being an artist. Sure, an artist would get great benefit, but so will the everyday person.
Jenny gets to the heart of what process art really is. The journey back to your true inner-self. She teaches you art of listening to yourself. The nature of just being. She explains that by just showing up to the canvas or paper, you can process what’s outwardly coming at you, or what’s quietly waiting below the surface. She gives you tools and techniques to let your feelings, thoughts and desires come to light.
There is NOTHING on the market like this. By learning to invite play and curiosity on my journey, I have awakened to the most whole and healed version of myself. Even my shadows had somewhere to go when I used these tools.
Thank you, Jenny, for your beautiful words of wisdom, encouragement and kindness that have given me a safe and prepared space to heal in the comfort of my own home. ❤️
This is an outstanding art process guide, and beyond that a guide towards self discovery. I took one of Jenny's workshops several years ago. That event re-ignited my creative art self. Process art can be, at its core, extremely healing and freeing. Jenny outlines how to get started, some supplies, and gives excellent exercises. The hardest part is getting started and employing "beginner's mind". Included are many of Jenny's beautiful, and sometimes challenging paintings. And she describes her own journey towards healing through art.
The book is rather female centric, yet the lessons can be adapted and used by anyone serious about painting and creating. "Unity-speak", New Thought and Buddhist teachings are entwined in her chapters. Creative Flow is wonderfully organized and written clearly with summaries.
Much wisdom is here.
This book I will keep and refer to in the future. Just superb.
