SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE ARCANA OF MADNESS is an engrossing and entertaining themed Anthology, Dark Tides 11 from Crystal Lake Publishing, featuring of course, Sherlock Holmes and his devoted Boswell (chronicler), Dr. John Watson ("Elementary, my dear Watson"). In these stories, the intrepid duo are confronted by practitioners of Sorcery, Black Magic, and Dark Arts. Of course the skeptic scientific mind rebuts all that; but it's amazing what can happen with Tarot, monomaniacal belief, hypnotic illusion....and self-fulfilling prophecy. A fascinating addition to the excellent Dark Tides collection!

Having read Sherlock Holmes stories in the past as a child, I remember them as being intelligent, complex stories steeped in atmosphere. This collection of three stories written by different authors has exactly this feel but in a darker tone, bordering on elements of the supernatural perfect for the Dark Tide series.
Each author does a stellar job in capturing the feel and tone of previous Sherlock Holmes stories and each mystery is one kept me continuously wanting to turn the page.
Definitely recommended if you’re after a mysterious and often creepy collection of Sherlock Holmes stories. Even if you haven’t read any before, this is a perfect place to start.
