Camilla is a bright, courageous friend and supporter of many causes, among them her circle of friends. She has often been maligned and vilified by the English public who still lie entranced by Diana. Two very different women with different experiences that shaped their personalities, both influencing Charles and his public and private lives. Camilla seems very much the long time friend, along with her first husband, and Charles that truly knew his thoughts and difficult choices. Charles has had a horrible depersonalizing childhood and learned that the Royal duty took primary choices over his true character. When finally Charles made his choice of Camilla he made his choice known amid the frenzy that this was someone he truly loved from early on and was not going to let her go. Her strengths helped him push his ideas and projects and in return she has added increased royal influence to many causes and sponsorships not done before. She is very pragmatic and loveably levelheaded. Charles has a Duchess suited to the needs of his life and her extended family, relatives, grandchildren, and cozy family functions that he needed to find the shelter and determination to carry on his very public life. A fairy tale finally come true. May God bless them both!
I have an immense dislike for Camilla and I added to that no respect whatsoever for either her or Charles. I hope the throne goes directly to William as having an adulterous head of the church of England should not be considered. As for her becoming queen, nope not happening either.
She didn't want to wait for Charles, she was was too busy lusting after Parker Bowles - in doing so they set in motion a heartbreak that would ripple down the years, destroying the dreams of a young naive girl who's own parents divorced and she witnessed the fall out.
Thank God I could read on KU not something I would have paid for.
It was good for someone who just wanted a short story of this person. I expected there would be more about her personally but everything here is just a repeat of most head lines.
Fascinating Story of Camilla's Life with Insider Info-An Eye Opener
The story of Charles and Camilla is truly a love story. They were evenly matched and she was the only person besides the late Louis Mountbatten that really understood and supported him. While many of us thought we knew Diana's side of the story, her marriage was engineered to keep the monarchy going. Having known more about Diana's upbringing and early life, I wanted to learn about Camilla's. She had a warm and loving family, and while not the most beautiful, she had a great personality that endeared her to many in her younger days. It was rather sad to learn the depth of loneliness in Charles' upbringing and Camilla was really his strength. If you have an open mind, (many still can't forgive Camilla for the breakup of Charles and Diana's marriage, the age difference and Diana's stellar personality, along with little common ground had really doomed it from the start) this is a fascinating story about a very brave woman who has endured a great deal of difficulty with grace for the man she loves. It is also an eye opener for what was really going on behind the scenes. Found this hard to put down.
Obviously, the author has tried to spin a gossamer pink cotton-candy view in the retelling of this very sordid dalliance. I'm not going to align my viewpoint with the hysteria of those espousing the poor, pathetic teenager who was ill equipped to manage a loveless marriage with a weak, self-centered, vapid man. However, to try to make the argument that Camilla was merely a besotted woman craving her right to have her love recognized, the author doesn't address the glaring truth that Camilla was a cunning, deceitful, cruel and calculating harpy who destroyed two marriages and left children to the mercy of public ridicule. I can't say much about the spineless narcissist she manipulated as all recognize the inept boy-child posing as an adult. The author skimmed over the unattractive truths to try to justify the adage that "true love" is a license allowing any trouncing of moral, ethical and honorable behavior. I'm appalled to read the not-so-hidden attempt to glorify, whitewash and beautify the two and the obviously blatant plea to accept their behavior as normal for our generation. A soap opera screen script at its finest.
