Although Android Studio is still a changing IDE, this book indeed decreasing the entry barrier for the Android developers especially Eclipse Gang. As my teaching experience of Android App Dev, I believe Android Studio is the future in the Android App developing way and this book give us an overview of a new developing tool.
In my favorite chapter 8, we can see how to profiling our app and see the memory usage by the Android Studio. The thread performance monitor is also be mentioned in this book. These are tow most important parts for every developers. Basic breaking point method and log system are well described in the book.
Conventional speaking, I list some pros and cons about this book.
Pros
- Easy understand
- Well covered topics
- Step by step tutorial
- Can be finished in a week
Cons - Actually my hope
- Providing some codes will be better
- No Gradle mechanism description
- No Unit Testing description

Good for understanding the interface of Android studio, and learning the basics of how to use it.
The book explains the how to setup a project, configure Android studio, and steps you through how you would do common things that you would need to be able to do when setting up an app, changing the design, and compiling and debugging it. The book does not give you a complete tutorial of creating an application using Android Studio, but just how to actually use Android studio, and getting you comfortable/ understanding the interface. If you are new to Android development, this book will walk you through the interface, but will not teach you how to create different types of apps. If you are an existing developer using eclipse, this book will give you a head start on understanding the interface, and where to find things that you are used to using.

This book is a quick read with good examples of how to move around the IDE. Many other books do not get into this detail. If you looking for how to code an app that is not the purpose of this book. This book is for users wanting to know how to get things done in the IDE. This book helps you to get familiar with Android Studio without fiddling with the IDE. Good first read book then move into books with more code examples.

This book is a quick read and will helps you to get familiar with Android Studio without fidling with the IDE. If you are new to Android development, you will need another book because this one will not teach you all you need to know to be efficient.
I would have like to read more about Gradle in the book but it doesn't cover it. Also, a shortcut cheatsheet in the annex would have been great.

A fair beginners-level introduction to the new Android Studio, but since its development is still in process, a lot of information is already out of date.

Concise and straight to the point. Very handy guide.
