This hands-on, example-driven guide is a practical getting started tutorial with plenty of step-by-step instructions for beginner to intermediate level readers working with BPEL PM in Oracle SOA SuiteWritten for SOA developers, administrators, architects, and engineers who want to get started with Oracle BPEL PM 11g. No previous experience with BPEL PM is required, but an understanding of SOA and web services is assumed
I found this book very useful as it cover almost all areas of the BPEL Process Manager. It spans across development, configuration, orchestration, testing, and performance tuning and troubleshooting of a BPEL Process and presents this material to the reader in a tutorial format. What I really liked is the fact that it is not building an application from chapter to chapter so you can read any chapter you are interested in individually. I have personally used it as a reference in work. The areas that were noticeable were:
1. The reference to the SOA Suite Management Applications some of which I was not even aware they existed :) 2. The detailed example of how to create correlation sets. 3. Step by Step Installation of SOA Suite, including JDeveloper. 4. Detailed reference to the basic and structured bpel activities and adapters. 5. How to create a custom XPath Functions. 6. JVM/OS/BPEL Engine Tuning and Troubleshooting.
Overall I would strongly recommend this book to a beginner or experienced SOA Suite developer.
