I have to say, I was a little curious to read a contemporary Scottish romance. I'd only ever read highland historicals and the like. But I took a chance on Alexa Bourne's SILENT SURRENDER was was beyond delighted to find a new favorite author! She brought life and depth to both Meggie and Quinn. Basic story: Meggie is the fiery Scottish lass who spent a magical time with Quinn, the sexy Irish Football Coach and he's never been able to forget her. Quinn sweeps in determined to be with Meggie again, but she's too afraid to committ. Dating a legend like Quinn comes with problems like his popularlity with the press and she values being anonymous but it's more than that. She fears losing her heart to him and getting it broken.
I was really impressed with how real both Quinn and Meggie felt. It had all the earmarks of a great sweeping romance story and yet Bourne tempers this romance with little realistic details that really put you in the little Highland village where Meggie lives. I felt it was both a fairy tale and a true story all at the same time which I think speaks of great talent on behalf of the author.
This story is great for anyone who loves love stories, regardless of romance subgenre. Bourne makes her characters and setting appeal on a mass scale! I'm so excited to look for her other titles and get to reading!
Thanks to Decadent Publishing and Alexa Bourne for the opportunity to read and review this story. This story is part of their Tease line. Once again, Alexa has drawn me into her story telling. I love that she has her stories set somewhere other than the US.
Quinn and Meggie had me rooting for them right from the start. Quinn going to find Meggie was what sucked me in. Who wouldn't want a man that came looking for her? Well in a non stalker type way!! Meggie tried to resist, but Quinn was able to convince her to go on a date with him.
I will admit that I wanted to smack Meggie for using family as an excuse, but I understood why. I am glad that Jamie, Meggie's brother did what he had to do to cause Meggie to wake up!
Even though I want more, this story was a great addition to the Tease line. Hey Alexa, can Ewen and Cat get a story too? You did set that up perfectly for it!
Give me another serving of Quinn please! The love story of Meggie MacDougall and Quinn O'Connell continues in SILENT SURRENDER, when football coach Quinn can't forget the lovely red head he spent a wild weekend with in Dublin and pursues Meggie to the pub her family owns in the little Scottish hamlet of Glenhalish where she lives. Meggie would prefer to keep her escapade in Dublin hidden from her brothers, not to mention the village she calls home, but she can't escape the lure of her sexy Irishman. When Meggie refuses to acknowlege that there's more to their relationship than what happens between the sheets, Quinn must convince her that their love is worth taking a chance on.
SILENT SURRENDER is spicy, sexy and, at 60 pages, short enough to finish in one panty-melting read.
