A must-read on the Christian faith! Not a dry dissertation, but a vigorous and immensely entertaining 21st Century "chat" between two insightful lawyers and authors, Steve Baughman and Ellsworth ("El") McMeen. Passionate, yet humorous; provocative, yet heartfelt. You'll be chuckling while you ponder deep spiritual matters in this engrossing dialogue. This vivid book also lends itself to Bible studies, and to studies in Christian apologetics, philosophy, and law.
An intriguing format and a fast read. Two good friends, both lawyers and musicians, one a "born-again" Christian, the other having grown up Christian but now an atheist, share an email exchange wrestling with issues of faith, doubt, evidence, what is "just," hell, and more. A fantastic - and unusual - example of two people with strongly held opposing views engaging in civil, careful, yet still hard-hitting dialogue. It is perhaps weakened by appearing to having been edited, noted, and promoted by the Christian of the pair, rather than a truly joint publication. It is not that the atheist's views appear to be truncated or given less importance, only that one wonders what may have been left out or what his occasional notes on the exchange might have been - particularly the closing endnotes which appear to be strictly the Christian's point of view. Still a worthwhile read.
