Ten practical projects that exercise your skill, build your confidence, and help you master jQuery Overview In Detail jQuery is used by millions of people to write JavaScript more easily and more quickly. It has become the standard tool for web developers and designers to add dynamic, interactive elements to their sites, smoothing out browser inconsistencies and reducing costly development time. jQuery Hotshot walks you step by step through 10 projects designed to familiarise you with the jQuery library and related technologies. Each project focuses on a particular subject or section of the API, but also looks at something related, like jQuery's official templates, or an HTML5 feature like localStorage. Build your knowledge of jQuery and related technologies. Learn a large swathe of the API, up to and including jQuery 1.9, by completing the ten individual projects covered in the book. Some of the projects that we'll work through over the course of this book include a drag-and-drop puzzle game, a browser extension, a multi-file drag-and-drop uploader, an infinite scroller, a sortable table, and a heat map. Learn which jQuery methods and techniques to use in which situations with jQuery Hotshots. What you will learn from this book Approach This book takes a hands-on, tutorial-style approach that walks you step -by -step through 10 individual projects that each focus on producing a specific, real-world product or application. Who this book is written for This book is aimed primarily at front-end developers, preferably already with a little jQuery experience, or those people that simply want to build on their existing skills with jQuery.
This book was a FANTASTIC hand on approach with great reading flow, the author kept me very entertained with the subject material and I felt a connection that few technical books tend to never make. I absolutely loved the structure of the book from the very beginning, with a mission impossible like theme, as if I were given a task from a real company and then worked with the author to solve it.
I’m further glad that I didn't have to solve the problems all by myself, well if that were the case I wouldn't need this book, but it is also a great reference for practical web development problems. The heat map project alone is easily worth all the money for this book, it’s a priceless tool that can be used to custom tailor your website and drop off areas that have hardly any use, allowing you to replace them with items that will boost website activity.
Drag-N-Drop sites are on the rise and with this book guiding you along it’s really as simple as 1-2-3, in my opinion this book is worth all 5 stars. If you've taken the time debating if this book will be worth your money, wait no longer and make your purchase as you won’t regret it. I regard this book as a good jQuery hands on lab guide because it doesn't tell any feature, API or whatever about this famous library; the book basically instructs to the reader to discover to use jQuery to implement, step-by-step, 10 well-known projects which solve common problems and challenges what any developer would face in his professional career.
I think that any developer who are looking for to improve his base jQuery theory knowledge would find in this book a quality guide which has been produce by the one of the best techy books publishers.
