As the face of Remington Security, Lieutenant Decker Mullins has done everything he can to make his clients happy and ensure their safety. Though no longer in the field himself, he and his partners have helped develop the company’s reputation as the best personal security agency on the East Coast. When a friend and investor asks for Decker to personally protect the daughter of the former senator of Rhode Island, he cannot stay on the sidelines any longer. His team must not only protect the club hopping party girl with a sharp tongue, but also put an end to the threat.Lake Harrington proves to be a source of contention for Decker from the very beginning as she pushes every button. Little does he know it is a desperate attempt to keep people from seeing beyond her trust fund brat act. He questions what he has gotten himself into from the moment he is assigned to her detail. The threat proves to be more than the typical Remington Security assignment as the body count begins to accumulate, and Decker must put everything on the line to save Lake from her stalker.
REACT will keep you on the edge of your seat for more than one reason. Stout has done a phenomenal job with a strong voice, the perfect pacing and an indulgent amount of spice. It was easy to get lost in the book, not realizing that I’d just read 80 pages. Highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of bodyguard and military romances!
This is not my genre. I don’t typically read books like this, but I befriended the author on TikTok and wanted to show my support. With that said, I was sufficiently impressed. The book kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what would happen next, and desperately wanting to know when Decker and Lake would finally “get on with it.” Janey did an excellent job. Brava!
Are you looking for a book that has it all? Then look no further! This book is enemies to lovers, slow burn, bodygaurd-security, spicy, a lot of action, a storyline that will keep you on your toes, sucks you in from the very beginning, a plot twist that has a PLOT TWIST! Oh, let's not forget that in the midst of all the chaos, there's a lot of funny banter between all the characters!
Hands down, loved, and enjoyed every second of this book! Janey Stout did a phenomenal job creating the perfect mixture of emotions this book will have you go through. I don't just add any books to my favorites list, but this book is going on it, and most likely, my top 5 reads of the year. This book is excellent for getting out of a book slump, looking for something new/exciting. I am SO looking forward to more Remington Security series! Keep pursuing your dreams, Ms. Janey Stout! You did such an amazing job writing this book. I know your other books will be just as good and exciting to read.
This was my first raunchy romance and it did not disappoint!
This book was recommended to me and I’m so happy I gave it a go, despite it being different to my usual genre. It has elements of action and suspense that kept me interested.
The hook had me straight away. It’s in the first person POV of two different characters and it’s really fun to see them interact and dive into what each of them is thinking. You start with preconceptions of each character, but new facts are teased throughout which add great depth to them and I grew a connection the more I read.
There were moments that had me gasp, and I was always changing my mind as to how I expected the story to go with the new bits of information. It kept me on my toes.
If you’re a fan of romance and thrillers, I’d recommend this book!! (Or read it if you’re like me and wanting to give the romance genre a go).
This book was so freaking good! I LOVE this book...Deck and Lake and the crew are amazing. I fell in love with this story...I t was fast paced, full of action, twists and turns with a out of left field hit man thrown into the mix...if I could rate it higher than 5 stars I would . A MILLION STARS! This author has my heart...Janey I love you girl...thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing this amazing book. Buy the book, and get it on kindle unlimited...but read this book you will not regret it.
Usually I'm a fantasy reader but recently thought I'd step out of my customary favoured genre and try something different. Fortunately, I discovered Janey Stout's book, React. A strong, spicy suspense-romance, the story pulls out all the stops to deliver an entertaining, sexy thrill ride. Lake Harrington and Decker Mullins have the sparks flying from the get-go when the private security agent is hired to protect the seeming party-girl heiress from a demented stalker. The action scenes are first-rate and the spicy scenes sizzle. The first in a series, React holds plenty of promise for the forthcoming books. Worth the read for all suspense-romance fans.
*Massive thank you to the author for sending me this book*
I really loved the first half of this book, I love the bodyguard trope! I found that it lost me slightly in the second half, and it was difficult to keep up with the story. I loved the main characters Lake and Decker, I’m just not sure if the storyline was for me!
It was well written and had a few tropes in that I love, so do give it a go if it sounds like your kind of book!
I really wanted to like this book, but I would not recommend it. When the characters introduced themselves at the beginning with, THIS is how the world perceives me, but *this* (dramatic look to camera, music swells) is who I am on the *inside*, my eyes started rolling and just never stopped. Smut was decent but I was just never rooting for them or into their romance.
I wish the author had finished the series tho, this feels like the kind of thing where book 2 would be WAY better
This book was so freaking good! Murder/stalker mystery with just the right amount of spice and so detailed on the mystery! Definitely enjoyed it! I love how the author didn’t over do the spice she had. I feel that she perfectly balanced the story well. I was so hooked and invested in the story. I was determined to figure out this mystery! lol really well written and easy to enjoy!
Great mystery thriller with just the right amount of spice. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters and look forward to the next book. The only thing I didn't like was the multiple points of view as it felt repetitive. But that's just my preference of storytelling. However, I still give it 5 stars for the total package.
I found Janey on TT from a follow back post. I found the main characters relatable. Decker reminded me of Sealy Booth. Though more brooding. Lake is my kind of woman, sassy and quick-witted. But smart as hell. I'm excited to see how the series plays out.
Absolutely adored this book! I found the post via TikTok and thought I’d give it a go, so glad I did! There was a bit everything I like in a story - action/gore/🌶️/decent plot line. I’m super excited for the next books, Janey - you need to get a wriggle on!
Loved it. I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers and this was great the spice was just right. And the read was easy I couldn't put the book down. can't wait to see more from the Janey Stout and I'm looking forward to the other men's stories in this series.
The slow burn of this book hooks you to the point it hurt. Knowing how each character felt and not doing anything about it had me almost throwing my phone but I loved everything from the smut to the storyline.
Ok so probably 4 stars BUT that’s more of a me thing with romance stuff lol I’m so ding dang proud of you Janey! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Also I’m terrible at updating stuff in a timely manner 😅
(Thanks ADHD)
Steamy, mystery, a dash of dislike turns into love.
This book was great. Each character has depth and makes you want to learn more about them and the plot grips you from the beginning. I can't wait for the sequels.
I absolutely love this book!!!! It's not your typical Romance book it's soooo much more!!! I can't wait till she puts the second one out I'll definitely buy it!!!!
Great mystery thriller with just the right amount of spice. I enjoyed all the characters, And I certainly will read the next. I gave this 5 stars for the total package.
This was an epic read. I love the whole crew. That cast of characters and the characters arcs and stories was excellent. The both do a little growing and healing..
I was given an ARC of this book by the author herself. Although we have been friends for years, this review is entirely my own opinion and in no way bias based simply on friendship.
I have known a version of the main characters in this book for more years than I can count...Janey taking them all into her lovely hands and making them soar off the page is just magic she's always been able to do as a writer. For Decker to go from a stoic, grumpy, focused military man to a soft, crazy for his woman, almost broken man over her being lost to the sweetest, sexiest almost spouse she could ever ask for was just fantastic.
The side characters are all visible in their own right and I can't wait to see what comes in the future books for them all especially my boy Jack, my girl Avery and of course, Fitz. Dude really needs to be explored more cause I like him already.
I was listening to this book at first so there was a bit of a disconnect cause my ADHD brain definitely has to work extra hard when listening to a book as opposed to reading with my eyeballs BUT when my technology stopped working and I had to switch, suddenly all of my emotions were involved. I teared up over somebody getting shot, I got grossed out over the villain wearing loafers, cause EW and when there was a heartfelt moment, I got choked up.
If you've inhaled enough true crime, action films with their romantic suspense sub plots, it's easy enough to figure out who the big BAD is in this book but the why will definitely send you for a loop! And watching him get what's coming to him is definitely worth it! I don't know what else I can say except give this book a chance! Read it. Enjoy it. And then tell me if I'm just a bad judge of reading material cause honestly I could use a dose of truth in my life.
Alright, I'm done. I'm off to eat orange chicken and rice and maybe read another ARC cause I'm so tragically behind.
