"Only a few books have been published so far on polymer clay, one of the newest crazes in the craft world....Artists are now using it for sculptures, boxes...and...ceramic forms in addition to jewelry. This book of basic techniques for molding, layering, and baking the clay offers 26 very colorful and whimsical projects, including buttons, beads, ornaments, and birdhouses."LJ. 128 pages (all in color), 8 1/2 X 10.
Explanations are not the clearest, but this has some interesting project ideas and covers a fairly wide variety of techniques. Kind of irritating to have to flip through several pages of finished products (most of which are not part of the projects section) to get to a set of project instructions. The ratio is not good here. The section on using canes to make realistic-looking butterflies is neat, though, and there are some other interesting projects.
I really loved the butterfly technique... But the other techniques are very basic and I found the projects excessively baroque. With the exception of the butterfly cane (the 2 stars are mainly for it), I don't think that I'll do any of these projects.
