Can you handle this truth?

Once you get past all the cursing and a bit of weirdness; this book has deep authentic truths. I laughed and cried reading MJ’s book. The title does get your attention, although I wish it had a different title.
It did help me to see my tendencies of being “too nice.” As a Christian, I do want to help others; but I appreciate MJ’s wisdom about setting boundaries. Thank you MJ Harris

3.5 stars. I picked this one up for three reasons. First, it looked incredibly entertaining. Second, I find myself listening to people a lot and books like this help me understand and empathize. Third, I’m sure there are many ways that I block myself from progress and authenticity. So why not? It’s summer anyway 😂.

MJ Harris’ voice comes through loud and authentic. At the core, the message is one of self-worth and setting boundaries, two noble goals that so many struggle with usually because of unresolved trauma. Personally, I learned a lot from the emotional unavailability section and could probably do more to not project that image. Or maybe I’m just too extreme with my boundaries? Either way, a fun quick read.

This book is exactly the kind of tough love many of us need. MJ Harris brings humor, honesty, and a whole lot of real talk to the table, offering guidance on everything from toxic relationships to emotional baggage. His voice is direct and unapologetic, and that’s part of what makes the advice so impactful.

This isn’t your typical self-help book filled with clichés and surface-level solutions. MJ dives into the messy stuff and gives readers the tools to confront it head-on. His approach is more like a conversation with a brutally honest, yet loving, friend. If you're looking for straight talk and the motivation to finally stop holding yourself back, this book absolutely delivers.

Great read

I loved the directness in this book. It is very relatable for all ages. MJ hit things head-on. I loved at the end of each chapter MJ gave directions on how to make the necessary changes. They didn't make people feel like their way of living was perfect. They let you know you have choices. There are so many gems in this book.
