Katherine Sheppard has been forced into an impossible existence. As a fugitive on the run with every law enforcement organization across two continents hunting her, Katherine is being forced to face what her life has become. She must learn who to trust, who to follow, and what rules must be obeyed in order to keep herself from falling victim a second time.
But her involvement with the Collector won’t wait to see if she can escape the law. Jonathan has assured her that “there is no break in the Collector’s list.” With the new names provided, she must continue to help him track, stalk, and collect the victims’ souls.
Can she continue to hand over the others in an attempt to save herself? It’s a question that plagues her every move, every thought, and every emotion. She must now kill or surrender her own existence, accept the hand that she has been dealt or defy the Creator of the List.
With fear of the unknown driving her primal instinct to survive, her rules are clear. Without exception, she must continue to Execute the List.
Katherine, after the death of two people whom were trying to murder her new found friend Jennifer and her unborn baby, she is wanted for questioning. The next name, on Jonathan's list is somewhere in Australia. She somehow manages to get her way there, trying to escape everything; the law and more importantly Jonathan and her own demise. But, things do not turn out the way they should and who should find herself on the other side, but Katherine. Except, she did not go the way she was suppose to and now, she finds herself in a very tough predicament.
"Looks like you've made a fine mess of things, Katherine. This isn't the afterlife you were suppose to have you know! I guess you singlehandedly just proved that we're not all assigned a predetermined destiny. I knew you needed to stay away from Liam! I knew he was bad for you! I tried multiple times to keep your mind on track and to get you to do the assignment that you were sent to Australia to do. I never could figure out what I could get close to you when he as with you, but I guess we know the answer now. You must have been his final collection because I don't know what happened to him or where he went, but as soon as he locked eyes to collect your soul, there was no way for me to get to you. Then, just as quickly as I saw him grab you, he was gone." Jonathan shrugged. "He had to have been another Collector. There's just no other explanation." I looked around the room as if my head were on a swivel. I was filled with terror at the realization of what Jonathan was implying.'
This book is even better than the first one! With the cliff hanging ending, of the first story, this one just jumps right into the problem. And then, Katherine's first Collection is just perfect, with Jonathan teaching her what it means to be a Collector. The third story is coming our soon & it's on my To Read list!
After reading ‘Manipulating the List’ (the first book in the Immortal Companion series), I was really looking forward to the second instalment. I can’t really say much about the plot as it would spoil the first book for anyone that hasn’t read it, but I feel comfortable commenting on other aspects of the story; characters, writing and overall enjoyability.
The writing style is as articulate and flowing as in the first book, with the characters developing steadily. I really liked the pacing of this story, although slow in parts, and found it difficult to put down at times. However, the plot wasn’t as strong as in ‘Manipulating the List’ but one thing I did enjoy about this plot was the introduction of all of the side characters and their stories, before they are collected.
Near the end of the book, I found some of these side characters slightly distracting but I did like how some of them strengthened parts of the first book as well as this one. I did manage to read this book mostly in one day and I think that that is largely down to the writing style and the main characters; Katherine is enjoyable to read about because (due to the first person narrative) the reader goes on this strange and terrifying journey with her, and Jonathan is just as creepy as in the first book, yet a lot more intriguing.
I have to say, the end of this book was impeccable and left me craving for more. I would have to give ‘Executing the List’ 4 out of 5 stars as although it isn’t as good as the first, this was a great sequel and left me wishing that the third book in the series was available!

I began reading this immediately after finishing the first book, Manipulating the List. If I hadn't had this book, I doubt I would've been able to sleep! I had to find out what happened next right away.
The author really made strides from the first book to this one. She fulfilled the potential of the story more fully, and I felt more satisfied with the way she continued to tell the story of Katherine and Jonathon. I learned more about Katherine and got to know her better. She began growing on me, and I began to care about what was going to happen to her.
The twists and turns were fantastic! I had to unwind myself from the book at times and remind myself it wasn't happening to me - it felt that real. The stories behind the people whose souls were being collected were more interesting this time around and didn't detract from the main plot; instead, the histories added to the action.
I was so glad to have this second book ready to read right away - with the abrupt ending of the previous book, I probably would've driven myself crazy wondering what was going to happen next, or even worse, sitting frozen where I was for the next several hours. :) This book really blew me away, and I can't wait to read more from the author!
I really liked this book. It picked up right where the first book left off. It also went into a lot of detail of the main characters Katherine & Jonathan and how their life of living "in-between" affects others. The ending could have been a little more suspenseful, but it still ended fairly well. Katherine is still trying to come to terms with herself during this book, but she is also still learning that things do not always turn out the way that she, or anyone else, would expect. In life, there is always the unexpected. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series, and I wonder where it will take Katherine and Jonathan next.

Okay, now that was a great story. The promise I saw in this author's writing style in her first book of this series was fulfilled in this one. Again the descriptive narrative was exceptional. However, unlike in the first book, these narratives set a scene which naturally led from that one to the next. I couldn't wait to read on to see what would happen next and I wasn't disappointed. There were still a few instances near the latter part of the story which I felt were too detailed and caused the story to drag for a bit. After a few pages of this though right back we went into the lives of the main characters. Well done and thanks to the ending of this book I will definitely have to read the third book. Many thanks to the author for the free copy of this book.
First let me say that, K.B. Lever is a very talented author. The Immortal Companion series is very original and very well-written. That being said, I had kind of a hard time getting into the first book in this series. I was a bit confused about what was going on at first and then it just didn't capture my attention. This book, however, captured my interest from the beginning and I'm glad I didn't give up after the first. It flowed smoothly, was intriguing and I needed to find out what was going to happen next. To me, this is what a good book is about. I'm thinking that the third book is gonna' be hard to wait for.

Katherine is pairing up with Jonathan to learn the ropes of being a collector. Little did she know she is going to be given an extremely long list. Due to one mistake she is placed in a horrible situation, one that will break her heart. While learning how to do her job she uncovers the truth behind her death, it's not what she expected. The story leaves us begging for book 3, to know how she deals with that task. I love this series, you quickly fall into the story and are left needing more. WaAR
I must admit, Ms. Lever has a great concept and story here; I wish I had come up with this idea. I actually liked the writing style better in this book; you could see the author’s growth and my hats off to her. I kept finding plot points that I had question about and as I pondered them briefly the author answered them smartly, bravo. My favorite part was Katherine’s interactions with Theodore the grounds keeper in Australia, which I hope there will be more of in the next book.
I received this book from the author for an honest review. Lever has improved her style and presentation based on reader input apparently. Found myself enjoying second book more than first. Without giving away story let me encourage readers to give Lever a try despite some negative feedback. You will not be disappointed.
I received this book from the author in return for a review. Personally, I preferred this book to the second - I found it flowed a lot more easily, and was intrigued about the correlation of how now that as Katherine as a collector herself and the correlation to her own life previously. It had some twists and turned which kept me glued till the end.
I liked the first book well enough but what got me into the series was reading to find out what happened at the ending of the first one and then continuing on further into the second book and not being able to put it down. I enjoyed the writing much more in the second book and I look forward to reading the third once I can get it.
I loved this book. I wish the next was out now (sigh). Unfortunately I'm writing this review with my I phone & it's a pain so I won't write how great this series is. But seriously, if you want a new series that is original & quick, you need to pick this up!
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Another great book by K.B. Lever! She is an incredibly talented author. I loved the plot of Executing the List; it lived up to Manipulating the List. I can't wait for Book #3!
