Spring has finally arrived, and Freddy the cat can't wait to go out on the prowl. But something very strange is happening. Freddy easily catches Mole, who is outside in daylight and doesn't even try to scramble into his tunnel. All Mole seems to care about is a pretty girl mole. Freddy is so surprised, he sets Mole free. Sparrow proves just as easy to catch--"doesn't even try to fly away. He's too busy mooning over beautiful Antonia sparrow. No one is afraid of Freddy anymore. What is going on? Hedgehog has the answer--"love is in the air. It's highly contagious, and before he knows what hit him, Freddy, too, is in love.

I picked it up because I liked the cat on the cover. But, eww, it's a kissing book. One day all the tame and feral critters are suddenly overwhelmed by the attractiveness of a member of their same species, opposite gender. Because Love at First Site is a thing for hedgehogs, I guess? I mean to say, I like romance as a genre, but this is shallow. I do like the art well enough that if I had a tiny child around the house I would probably make up an alternate story for the pictures.
This was SO cute! Freddy wonders why none of his traditional "prey" are afraid of him. It's because they're all in love, and love makes you blind to danger! Freddy doesn't understand about falling in love--or does he? The illustrations were full of soft, spring-y colors, and I loved the one at the end where the cats' tails form a heart. Very cute! Cat lovers MUST read this!
