The Russian Language
Russian, one of the six official languages of the United Nations, is the official language in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Krygystan, with an estimated 150 million native speakers around the world. Pimsleur's Russian uses speakers from Moscow and St. Petersburg, which accounts for slight pronunciation differences between speakers, but accurately depicts contemporary spoken Russian.

Whoever wrote this language guide has a wonderfully dry sense of humor. I burst out laughing a couple of times from some of the unexpected scenarios and responses in this speaking guide.

The conversational method that this guide uses - learning short responses and building new vocabulary into larger sentences – is also a fantastic way to learn! I tried out a different CD set that spit out random vocabulary words every few seconds and it was awful. There’s no way to retain that much new random information in such short spurts. It’s much better to repeat and build vocab in a way that also teaches sentence structure and breaks down the pronunciation, while demonstrating the changes in grammar and pronunciation based on context. This was an awesome way to spend my time in rush hour traffic; I would highly recommend this CD set.
