Every day that I read this book I tried to remember to say the prayer in the beginning of the book asking for Divine Assistance with avoiding improper speech (gossip, slander, flattery etc). It is so easy to speak poorly about other people! Not viciously, but practically with an empty head, just saying whatever comes to mind. It is so hard to think before speaking but it is possible to speak properly; learn the laws of proper speech and think before talking until one can make it like second nature. Hard, but not impossible. Our Rebbeim are such good examples.

The laws of proper speech are of the UTMOST importance. DEATH and LIFE are in the power of the TONGUE proverbs 18:21.

A daily study on how to avoid the sin of "loshon hora" - hebrew for "evil tongue." Written by a well esteemed Rabi in the 1800s who started with the premise that loshon hora was the primary cause of so much of Israel's woes, even connecting the exile specifically to this sin.

The best part of reading this book was the daily reminder to be wise and guarded in the use of my tongue. It is so easy to slander others in the smallest way - and that's not the kind of person I want to be. Having this daily reminder in front of me helped to curtail empty words. One of the better books I've read this year.

This is one of the best books I have read. In short it talks about Lashon Hara (Evil Speak). Evil speak is basically any gossip, or speaking bad about other people. It shows the consequences of such actions and goes on to outline a way to improve yourself so that you don't fall into the trap of doing this.

I think now especially when gossip and speaking negatively is so common place this wisdom is something people should read. It's also great to share with kids and teach them early on.

This is an amazing, rich, daily read on the benefits of good speech and bad speech....what it brings into to your life. Out of all the books that I will ever read, this is one that will stay cracked open...ALWAYS.
