I took an online Intro to Programming class shortly before reading this book, and I wish I had just read this book instead. The book does a much better job than the class did in connecting the aspects of programming for Visual Studio to larger concepts in programming. The example projects in the book are absolutely terrible, though -- don't read this thinking you'll have some good starter projects when you're done.
