Not well done. It is as though the author took a single essay and made many copies of it, and then changed a few words to produce a new essay. Obviously much is repeated, and the set of essays is very inefficient. The essays never challenge reality, it only works around the created reality of the machines, thus was never real.

I believe the authors criticisms regarding women and race reflect his own deficiencies rather than those of the film.

We construct our reality based on our perceptions and reasoning skills. This is not true or absolute reality, but as we learn, we may approach true reality. The novel reveals that some, like Cypher, want a reality based on physical gratification, some want reality based on social relationships, and others want one based on love. In every case, the individual learns the reality that suits their desires, not necessarily what satisfies reality.
