Certainly delivers the promised survey without going into too much detail. Given the time frame, though, too much detail would have simply guaranteed the material would have lost even more relevance (the chapters on big data used a relatively modern definition -- too large to fit on one machine -- but focus on handling tape drives).

Surprisingly relevant, if you remember that caches play a much larger role than they did 40 years ago.
