Quick Read to Learn Typescript Basics and Beyond

This is the 7th web coding book by this author that I’ve read and reviewed. So far, I mostly like what I’ve seen. To give you some context, I've been doing basic web coding for my personal websites for decades. The book is well organized and has a logical flow, starting with the basics concepts like what Typescript is—the author calls it a supercharged version of Javascript—and building more complexity as the book progresses. Topics include setting up your development environment, working with variables and data, interfaces, and classes. You’ll also learn how to declare, use, and constrain generics, as well as integrate Typescript into popular JavaScript libraries and frameworks like React. You’ll see plenty of coding examples, though I don’t like that their text is faintly colored on a black background; I find it hard to read. You'll understand important terms in Typescript and see them in action. You will also get a deeper understanding of what Typescript can do for web pages. While I love that no-nonsense, no-fluff approach, I don’t like the book’s Q&A aspect, and I'm not sure why the author thought it important enough to have, let alone emphasize in the book's subtitle. At the end of each brief section, you’ll find an exercise and solution section far too reminiscent of textbook ones. I'm way past the age of using textbooks and don’t really like that format. But that and the code snippet text/background are the only issues I have with this book. The information is excellent. If you want to brush up your Typescript skills or start learning about it, you might want to give this book a try.

I received a free digital copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
