[It's not tailor-made for novices like more recent publications are, but it covers everything basic that a Go player needs to know]

Spent ten days with this book and a Go board; did not master Go.
It was, however, a good introduction to the game and the theories behind strategy. It provides plenty of exercises and two complete games by Go masters that can be recreated move-by-move.
