I'm just reading this for fun as a novice in order to get an overview of topics to look into more deeply later, but I love sentences like this one...

"Being comprised of two quarks, mesons form an octagonal pattern termed the 'eightfold way' when plotted as functions of charge and strangeness."

The language of math and physics is so delightfully bizarre and poetic.

Classic text on the subject. Does what it sets out to do. Quite dry and drab, not really easy to understand on its own.
