This is a non-fiction book with simple ideas to help improve your sleep. Most of the solutions presented are well known and common sense. A few are newer to me.

The author presents each solution then backs them up with citations of studies. This is to help prove the validity of each idea presented. The use of “mouth taping” for example has come out as controversial lately. People with various breathing issues, such as sleep apnea, have been advised not to try it. What I like about this book is the author presents the solution, discusses myths and scientific studies, then talks about the risks or side effects. This is the most responsible way of providing this information and I applaud the author for showing all sides of the discussion.

I also liked the section on sleep syncing as that is something I have been trying for the past few months, with very little success. This chapter gave me insights into what I was doing wrong, and tips on how to make it more effective. I can’t wait to give this a try.

There are many different ideas offered in the book, such as: weighted blankets; sleep tracking; melatonin; etc. The author seems to have put a lot of research into all the solutions presented in the book, including citations. I recommend this book to anyone who is having difficulty sleeping, or just wants to improve the efficiency of the sleep they’re getting.

Great beginners guide.

I've always struggled with getting a good night's sleep, so when I picked up The Sleep Solution by Cameron I was hopeful but skeptical. To my surprise, this book actually helped me understand my sleep issues better.

What I appreciate most is how practical the advice was. It's not just a bunch of scientific jargon – there are tips I could start using right away. I particularly liked the suggestion about bamboo sheets (which I'm now considering buying) and the eye-opening info on how my late-night phone habit affects my sleep.

While it's aimed at beginners like me, I found plenty of suggestions for digging deeper into topics that caught my interest. It's like a friendly guide that gives you the basics but also shows you where to look if you want to know more.

I'll admit, the nice cover design (the one on Amazon, not his one) first caught my eye and made me curious about the author's other books. But it's the content that really matters, and on that front, this book delivers. If you're like me and need a starting point to tackle your sleep problems, I'd say give this book a try. It might not solve everything, but it's definitely given me some new ideas to work with.

Over the last few years I began to struggle with my sleep; falling asleep, staying asleep, feeling rested in the morning. I, along with many people I’m told, experienced a new level of anxiety during the pandemic and that change affected my sleep patterns.

But not just anxiety could be the cause of my rem sleep disruption I am learning through my research, things like binge watching Netflix right before bed, a habit I have yet to break even though the world has resumed functioning.

I picked up this book thinking I had most likely read the suggestions before, having spent months googling the topic of sleep tips, but I learned I was wrong.

Although for someone with anxiety a tip like mouth taping is just not realistic, I found myself taking in the other ideas, sifting for the ones that might not forever fix my problem but might help be part of the solution. I was surprised that tip after tip was something I had not read before or explained a technique in a new way allowing me to understand why it hadn’t worked for me the first time around.

My new bamboo sheets and pjs are on their way! I can’t wait to try all these new ideas out.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author, and I’m very impressed. Cameron writes concise, easy to understand, accurate books. This book discusses several strategies for improving sleep. Each strategy is clearly described. I’d heard of some. Others were new to me. Pros and cons are discussed, including side effects. And my favorite thing about this book, is that the author discusses research. Nothing is claimed without experimental research to back it up. Not only does this author understand how to read research. Cameron can summarize it for you in meaningful ways. The author can take about any subject matter in self help, do the research for you, and leave you with a meaningful understanding of the subject matter. This is a rare talent and I hope to read more books by this author. I recommend this book if you’d like a better understanding of sleep improvement. I also recommend any nonfiction book by this author that you find.

Having read a previous book on Financial Empowerment by the author, I was encouraged to see if I could learn anything new to improve my sleeping habits. Many of the tips I’d heard before, but some were my first time reading about. Cameron is quite detailed and provides plenty of research. I’ve tried mouth taping and it didn’t work for me, but I look forward to trying some other approaches listed in this book like weighted blankets, loop ear plugs, and especially sleep syncing, which involves syncing your sleep cycle with natural rhythms like getting more exposure to natural light and minimizing exposure to artificial light. Also, it was great to read about Bamboo pajamas and sheets, and I will be trying those too.
All in all, there’s a lot of information packed into this bite-sized read that should help some people struggling with sleep.

Beneficial if You’re New to Sleep Problems

If you’re curious about insomnia and want a simple explanation, this book is all you need. You will gain a basic understanding and learn some techniques to manage insomnia. Most of the info is solid, but the book lacks depth, just like the three real-life examples. I thought this idea had potential, but all three needed more depth to be useful.
