This revised and expanded desk reference includes step-by-step instructions for all aspects of a paralegal’s job, including ethics, court systems and procedures, legal research tools, and electronic trial preparation procedures. Reprint.
I see that I read this book previously, and wanted to refresh on the paralegal career since I have settled for this state librarian job for the past 2+ years with little legal research. I do try to read briefly on some of the new assembly and senate bills that have not yet been signed in as a law. I wanted to see my option(s) again.
However, when I read this book, I was in the process of going to a college to obtain a graduate certificate or an associate degree in Legal Studies (Feb. 2015) and entered in a program shortly later (Fall 2015). I completed and graduated with additional credits in May 2017; now a year later, taking courses to get MCLE (State Bar Approved credits for further legal education). When I initially read it, it was encouraging and intriguing to learn the basics and revealing the law practices to a non-legal career employee and prospective student. Now after obtaining a paralegal certificate and working with minimum legal issues at work that I cannot give legal advice or help with; this book was easier to grasp (which was also well-written for those wanting to dive into the career) and skim through the book in a few days to focus on the areas of law of interest. I have the 1996 version and this one was updated briefly (and more examples than the 96 edition). I reviewed the two in many areas--but it gives the basics of course.
