This is my NVivo bible. It ties together the hands-on logistics of qualitative research with some larger methodological considerations. I have recommended it countless times to people. It is a nice companion to Bazeley's other book "Qualitative Data Analysis: Practical Strategies"

This book is an excellent guide to using NVivo for qualitative data analysis and more. The concepts recommended and explicated in the text can benefit any researcher. Whether one uses NVivo or not, they will benefit from reading this text. The text reveals how every researcher can benefit from the extant effective and efficient, practical data collection, organization, analysis, and reporting ideas herein. Those who specifically want to utilize NVivo will unquestionably find this text a huge help and indispensable companion in navigating the NVivo software for data analysis and interpretation. This is an excellent, simple, clear, and step by step guide, especially in its newer version, 2nd Ed. The diagrammatic illustrations throughout the text and project examples are exceptionally invaluable. The application of NVivo’s tools for team projects is rewarding. That NVivo, as demonstrated in the text, can be used to manage and analyze mixed methods data sets is something to look forward to in this book. Researchers interested in the analysis, comparison, and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data findings will find this book a convenient one-stop resource guide to that end as well. Great resource it is.

Excellent introduction to the brilliant NVivo software. A very thorough - at times almost too thorough - step-by-step guide to NVivo's most important features. I haven't read other similar guide books but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it warmly to the uninitiated user. Makes good use of NVivo's accompanying project example.

Those working in qualitative tradition and particularly curious to know how it is to use NVivo software for their thesis, this is the book to look for. Together with Lyn Richards's Handling Qualitative Data (2015), this step by step guide will make it easier for you; language is accessible and there are examples to learn from. Although, it won't be clear what needed to be done, if you do not dirty your hands with the software and check how it feels. Do a pilot phase and see how it goes. This book becomes helpful when you are also starting to use NVivo. Remember no matter how one reads about how to use MS Word or Excel, one learns by actually doing it. But that does not mean, you can learn-by-doing NVivo, because it is a different ball game altogether. You have to know how to set up your data and what and what not to do in the beginning, so that you don't end up messing up your whole study.

To cut it short, just head to your library or a local book store and get a copy if you want to get your work done earlier.

This is a really great complement to self-guided exploration in NVivo, especially since it has what one of my colleagues called a "psychological tour of using NVivo"--the text will actually reassure you that it's normal to feel confused, overwhelmed, etc at certain stages. Unlike a lot of other QDA books, I found it very useful for non-academic research--while there are some sections that assume copious amounts of research time and flexible deadlines, there's also a lot of attention to features like auto-coding that facilitate quick exploratory analysis on a deadline.
