In this East-meets-West memoir Peter Craggs recounts his childhood in Hong Kong. The initial attraction between his father Harry (a Geordie copper and frustrated alcoholic) and his mother Vicky (a Chinese dancing girl) soon spiralled out of control and led to a volatile and violent relationship, ending in Harry’s death at Vicky’s hands. This memoir has an interesting premise, and Craggs is undoubtedly enthusiastic, but unfortunately it is quite a slow read which is poorly edited.
