A Color for Sketch: A Book About Colors

Rate this book
In A Color for Sketch , Mister Doodle tries to figure out what color to paint his dog Sketch's doghouse.

This house needs a touch up, he thought. Paint would do the trick!
But what color would Sketch like best? What color would he pick?

Maybe a refreshing shade of blue, like the color of the sea.
Or the golden yellow of a humming honeybee.

As his search for a color that Sketch would approve of comes to an end, Mister Doodle soon realizes that he's actually known the perfect color all along!

This is a wonderful book about colours. We took approximately 40 minutes to finish reading and relating things with colours. Its not a sit and read book, its a read and explore book. My 2 YO and me had a great time reading this book, turning back the pages to know what colour to pick. Oh yeah he loves yellow so he said Yellow is the colour he needs to pick. he is going pretty slow in learning colours, this book is simply great to understand and give more examples. We sorted toys with each colour page, and now he knows plum and eggplant have the same colour. he pointed the honey bees are black, they should have been oranges instead of pumpkin, but anyways our 2YO kept saying orange looking at pumpkin, orange fruit is more associated with the colour orange. He loves the firetruck, he picks rocks so he liked that colour too. The gorilla scared him. Now when he recalls few things he points it to particular pages on the book. He opens to the figs page and says "me no like this" and the face look is quite sarcastic with his nose up and a little pout.

my favorite book about colors so far. mister Doodle wants to pick a color to paint Sketches dog house. cute rhymes take you through the different colors which are accented on each page. there are very few colors shown on each page so they know which color is which. there is always black lines, but also the bees on the yellow page have black stripes and the fire truck has black tires and such. ... but for the most part, the color being discussed is the only color on the page
