About the author

Heinz G. Konsalik (pseudonym of Heinz Günther) was a German novelist.

Many of his books deal with war and showed the German human side of things as experienced by their soldiers and families at home, for instance Das geschenkte Gesicht (The Mutilated Face), which deals with a German soldier's recovery after his sledge ran over a personnel mine and destroyed his face, and how this affected his relationship with his wife at home. It places no judgment on the German position in the war and simply deals with human beings in often desperate situations, doing what they were forced to do under German military law.

Der Arzt von Stalingrad (The Doctor of Stalingrad) made him famous and was adapted into a movie in 1958. Some 83 million copies sold of his 155 novels made him the most popular German novelist of the postwar era and many of his novels were translated and sold through book clubs. He is buried in Cologne.

الحمد لله رب العالمين
هينز كونساليك , هذا الكاتب الألماني , من الصعب ان تجد له كتب مترجمة فى مصر فيما عدا هذا الكتاب الذى يعد تحفة معمارية فى فن الكتابة البوليسية الاجتماعية إذ يحكى عن : رجل أحسن حاجة , مهندس ألمانى و زوجته امرأة أحلى حاجة , ومع ذلك يا أخى يتركها ويشتهى امرأة أعز أصدقاءه , ويذهب نعوذ بالله يزنى معها فى فندق رخيص , مرة بعد مرة , يقول أطباء القلب أن القلب من الممكن ان يتوقف من فرط اللذة الجنسية! وهذا ما حدث لها فى آخر مرة لقد ماتت بين يديه نعم فارقت الحياة , انظروا الآن يا سادة لهذا الرجل , فى هذا الموقف العصيب , فى لحظة يستمتع بالزنى والعياذ بالله , وفى نفس اللحظة تتحول المرأة الى جثة!! ولا عجب , إذن فهذا هو المدخل الطبى رقم واحد الذى أسسَ وبنى عليه الكاتب الرواية , ولا بد لنا ان نعى ونفهم هذه النقطة جيدا ,يستمر الكاتب بعد ذلك ليقول لنا كيف حاول الرجل التخلص من الجثة وإخفاء المهزلة عن صديقه الذى جن جنونه من اختفاء زوجته ,ولا يعلم لها طريق جُرة.
رقم 2 يحاول الرجل إخفاء الأمر عن زوجته والتى لاحظت ولا شك ما هو فيه من اضطراب وخيبة وخلافة
القصة جميلة , من يقرأها على مسئوليته .

Ja, ich habe dieses Werk tatsächlich gelesen - es hat ungefähr die im Titel erwähnten zwei Stunden gedauert. Ehrlich gesagt fehlte der Geschichte irgendwie der Pfiff, fand ich jedenfalls. Aber als leichte Kost für die Mittagspause oder eine Busfahrt ganz gut geeignet.

Le titre et la couverture nous donnent des fausses pistes du genre du roman. On attend un roman romantique, mais c'est un polar dès le début.
Le lecteur connait le mystère mais les personnages doivent le découvrir au cours des pages.
