Vyprávění o zrzavé holce Jarmile, jejím roztržitém tátovi, hodné paní magistře i dalších zvláštních i zajímavých lidech, ale hlavně o jednom ještě mnohem zvláštnějším koni. Jarmila zažívá spousty legračních situací a posléze se stane nejen filmovou hvězdou, ale navíc i šikovnou pomocnicí v lékárně. Občas je jí ovšem do pláče, protože s tím koněm to není tak docela jednoduché... Mladým čtenářkám bude knížka jistě blízká, ale i jejich maminkám leccos z dřívějška připomene. Poprvé totiž vyšla už v roce 1976, bohužel ne pod jménem autorky, která tehdy nesměla publikovat. Poutavé čtení o lásce a holčičích trampotách, plné vtipu a humorných situací, lety nijak neztratilo na půvabu.

About the author

Hermína Franková was a Czech writer. She graduated from Masarykova University’s School of Pharmacy. Her books were first published in the 60s. In 1968, she wrote a short story for children called Witch on a Broomstick, which was her inspiration to write the original story for a fantasy film/comedy entitled Girl on a Broomstick. In the 60s, she also wrote a wide range of books for adults, some of which were published abroad. In the 70s, she was prohibited from publishing for political reasons, and so she worked as a pharmacist. In that time, she published several books under other authors‘ names. Beginning in the 80s, she began publishing once again under her own name. She returned to the theme of witches and wrote a screenplay for a mini-series of fantasy comedies entitled Fire Women. Starting in the 90s, she began writing again full-time. She participated in writing the screenplay for Cinelabyrinth for the exhibition in Osaka, Japan. In the 90ies Hermína Franková was approached to collaborate on the sequel to Girl on the Broomstick, but that project never happened, and she was not involved with the sequel done in 2011. Hermína Franková loves Southern Bohemia, which has inspired several of her books such as Lake Boy (published also in France) and Hooray! Let’s Travel the World (2014). Hermína Franková loves dogs, children, traveling, swimming, novels by the French author Daniel Pennac, good food, Campari and her family. She used to spend most of her time with her family. She had two daughters, three granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
