McGraw-Hill Hardcover 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" with 566 pages. David J. Peery, Ph.D. Professor and Head Dept. of Aeronautical Engineering - The Pennsylvania State College - FIRST EDITION - copyright 1950. Includes a wide range of topics, such as Equilibrium of Forces, Space Structures, Inertia Forces and Load Factors, Shear and Bending-Moment Diagrams - Symmetrical Beams - Unsymmetrical Cross Sections - Semimonocoque Structures - Spanwise Air-Load Distribution - External Loads - Mechanical Properties - Joints and Fittings - Tension, Bending, Torsion - Compression Members - Webs in Shear - Deflections of Structures - Indeterminate Structures - Special Methods of Analysis and more.
This is the 2nd edition of Peery's Aircraft Structures, and is co-authored by Azar.
It is thinner & reorganized relative to the first edition, and although a decent text, it is inferior to the first edition, which is discussed below.
Peery's first edition of Aircraft Structures stands as the second-best leading strength & design text for aircraft (&aerospace) structures, standing only behind E.F. Bruhn's Analysis & Design of Flight Vehicle Structures.
Peery deals with some subjects such as aircraft loads, V-n diagrams, & the delta-P Method better than Bruhn, but Bruhn is more comprehensive and covers other subjects better or more fully.
The (1st) edition is now available from Dover for about $25 bucks, making it an essential add to the library of any practicing strength engineer.
I highly recommend that serious structures professionals obtain a copy of both Bruhn's Analysis & Design of Flight Vehicle Structures & Peery's 1st Edition of Aircraft Structures.
