I found this book at a library book sale, and what a find! Very interesting & well written. I didn't know much about her life, and had disregarded her art as too "feminine ", but I've gained a whole new respect for all her achievements in the art world of her time.

This was an extremely well written and researched biography about Mary Cassatt's life from the time she left America for Paris up until the end of her life. It is interspersed with many wonderful black and white photographs of her work, family members, friends, and other artists as well as homes she lived in. I found myself caught up in the thrill of her lengthy artistic career, impressed by her independence and saddened along the way by the loss of her family members and friends. Brilliant book about an inspirational life.
