In his 1962 book The Gutenberg Galaxy , Marshall McLuhan wrote the famous "The new electronic interdependence recreates the world in the image of a global village." As predicted by the renowned Canadian media theorist, satellite telecommunications, beginning with the first Sputnik launch in 1957, united humanity under a vast "cosmic membrane." Okwui Enwezor was a Nigerian curator, art critic, writer, poet, and educator, specializing in art history. He lived in New York City and Munich. In 2014, he was ranked #24 in the ArtReview list of the 100 most powerful people of the art world.
