As a young professional—though older than the author was when he started his business—aspiring to build my own company as the next step in my career, I always appreciate candid autobiographies from humble entrepreneurs who have been through it all.
In this book, the author takes us through his journey—how he first felt the urge to start a business, how he built it, the struggles along the way, and his reflections on the experience. He details the highs and lows, from taking his company public at 26 to watching the stock price plummet for three years, nearly falling into depression, and ultimately turning things around by shutting out market noise and focusing on the right long-term investments—not by chasing short-term profitability, but by betting on future growth.
I personally resonated with many of his traits—his impulsiveness, his all-or-nothing mentality where if you’re in, you’re all in, and if you’re not passionate, you’re out. Like him, I wasn’t academically exceptional, but I take pride in my resilience and grit when it comes to the things I commit to.
I really enjoyed this book—it was a compelling read, and I finished it in just 4-5 hours. Having been part of a startup journey from the early stages to post-IPO, many of his experiences deeply resonated with me. I’d be especially excited if he publishes another book covering his post-IPO journey up to today.
