Combines a view of Dorothy Parker's tragic life with analyses of her literary style and the nature of her essays, light verse, drama, poetry, fiction, and criticism
July 23rd. I'm very much interested in Dorothy Parker again. I was reading Zelda, about F.Scott Fitzgerald's wife, and dear Dorothy was mentioned. That's what set me off. This was the closest thing to a bio our library had. Small towns, grrrr. Much to my surpise, it's rather nice so far. I'm getting a short little bit of bio, which is a start and I see that coming next are some little bits about her writing. Like cliff notes but with more meat and potatoes. I like Dorothy Parker, of course more for her flaws than anything. Perfect people who never drink too much don't have books written about them do they?
