The Bluff is not in the title its in the content. Lots and lots of dialogue without much action. Most of the so called SAS action happened in the last 15% of the book and then not much. One guy swung through a window - thats a spoiler. Sorry. But apart from that nothing. I am pretty sure this author is an armchair warrior, no insight into how the SAS operates (and I see he has a whole series of SAS titled books) I admit I was interested in the Gambia connection as I have been there and travelled the country. But I had to skim a lot of the tedious dialogue that didn't add much to the story. I got the picture by just reading the sections about the soldiers. I didn't really care about the so called freedom fighter and what they had to say, nor was I much bothered by the musings of the SAS soldiers - who when on patrol seemed to be thinking about their loved ones back home and the cricket rather than focusing on the job in hand - which I think is pretty much what the SAS are famous for - focusing on the job. So 2 stars from me and I will not be following up on the rest of the series from this author.
