Get ready to read about the most active centenarian you'll ever encounter. At age 102, Waldo McBurney is not only writing books, but is setting international track and field records as a senior athlete, keeping 100 colonies of bees, gardening, traveling and living independently with his wife in his own home! Waldo's story is even more remarkable. It is sure to inspire readers of all ages.
This autobiographical book tells the true story of R. Waldo McBurney’s life. It starts with interesting memories of growing up on farm land in western Kansas in the early 1900s. As I read the book, the author shared helpful tips and wise ideas about health, faith, eating well, and living a good life. I found it very motivational and also spiritually touching. My favorite parts of his book were about his record-setting and medal-winning, in his running races and track & field events later in his life. It was amazing to read about what he was able to do at an older age. This book shows that it is never too late to stay active and enjoy life. (Note: Knowing briefly about R. Waldo McBurney’s history, before reading his book, I entered and ran in the 17th Annual R. Waldo McBurney 5K race in Quinter, Kansas, on August 10, 2024. I finished in first place in the Men's 51-60 age group. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful course. People at the race were so kind, helpful, and pleasant.)
