Great Children's book- I loved it, good vocabulary and very important message for kids! I recommend buying this book for any child in your life (children, grandchildren, neices, newphews, friends).

Milk and Cookies, Toast and Jam. Somethings are just better together. That large print and illustrations in Bug's Trip to the Store go well together. The entire theme of the story allows children to relate to Bug in their own lives. It is a great lead-in for small group discussion within the classroom. The literary content is invaluable. The large print allows children to locate individual vocabulary words easily for meaning and understanding of content. Finally, the pattern of rhythm and rhymes may be set to a "clapping of syllables". Children would enjoy putting this to music.

The Bug Children series sounded really cute, but I was dismayed when I read them. The stories are written in verse, but the verse isn't very creative and doesn't flow very well. There isn't much story to the books, and a younger child would lose attention before the halfway mark. The illustrations are nothing special, and look blocky and stretched in strange ways. Lastly, Bug didn't look like either a bug or a VW bug. He looked like a squashed banana.
Sorry to say I can't really envision many children enjoying these books.

Bug's Trip to the Store is a wonderful rhyming story that captivates and teaches an important life-lesson. This is portrayed as Bug perseveres and overcomes an obstacle. Children can easily connect to the Bug and the conflict that occurs. A positive message that is clearly portrayed in the book is that "I can do it, and I need to believe in myself."
I encourage teachers, counselors, parents, and adults to follow Bug's Adventure Series!

A little bit Dr. Seuss, with rhyming narrative. A little bit The Little Engine that Could, with a message about overcoming obstacles one step at a time. This children's book has jazzy colors and design and features the likeable Bug (V.W. Bug, not the insect type). The little car and the big semi make this a good book for young boys.

The cute yellow VW bug protagonist has to navigate the highway--and an oh-so-much-bigger semi truck--in order to get what he needs (gas). The metaphor for a child trying to function in a world of big, powerful, unpredictable adults gives the message that courage is what it takes, even--especially--when you're scared.

My son just loves Bug's adventures and I love that each one has a good moral.
