Twelve years ago, I was hobbled by my alpha, cast out of my pack, and forced into an unfriendly world without any protection.
But I’m not exactly helpless.
Despite being unable to shift, I have talents the others don't have. I can see the spirits of dead people, for one. And I have a knack for fighting rogue supernaturals.
My ex-alpha will never let me back in, but there's another alpha in the city.
Something has been killing his wolves, and he wants me to destroy it before it takes another one. He'll triple my going rate--but that's not the thing that makes me agree to help him.
He says he can free my wolf.
It's not possible, but... What if it is?
I'll help him, either way. Monster hunting is what I do, and if there's a monster killing wolves, I will stop it. Because those two warring alphas might believe the city is theirs, but this is my territory.
The city embraced me when the packs wouldn't have me, and I will protect it--with or without my wolf. -- This set includes all five books in the Kait Silver series:
Broken Moon Blood Magic Bold Mercy Bad Medicine Beautiful Madness
Laken was first published in 2008. After a few exciting years with her publishers, she struck out on her own to write the now complete Rune Alexander series, and never looked back.
She shares her Ohio home with three spoiled dogs, two fish, and a tenacious African Violet. She drinks too much coffee and continues burning up the keys of her trusty laptop, getting the stories out of her head and into her readers' hands.
Matt's nightmares all come true in this the final.book in the series. Jared (her alpha) has disappeared and Kait cannot feel him thought their mate link not can the wolves in his lack feel his presence. Kait is convinced though that he i still alive, that their link would let her know if he dies .........at least she is praying that is true. So, Kait has to find who has taken her alpha and what they've done to him. She is also still under orders from the.council to find and destroy the daywalker vampires and the source of their power (whatever it is that is enabling them to.go out in daylight). Kait and all her friends will.have to.walk through hell to get to the end and some.of.then may not make it. Kait will.also.learn some unpleasant truths about herself and where her abilities come from but if she is to survive she will need to embrace all she is.
This book (collection of books) the complete Kait Silver’s series is truly wonderful! If you enjoy a low to medium heat level romantic paranormal series, you’ll love the Kait Silver’s series.
Kait is not your run of the mill human woman, in fact, she’s not human at all. Nope. She sees and can communicate with the dead. She wields a blade as if born to it, AND she’s a “hobbled” wolf. When Kait was 14, she and her mother were banished from their pack and labeled as traitors because Kait’s father tried to overthrow the current Alpha. Now grown, Kait lives as a lone wolf and takes jobs ranging from demon possessions, vampire slaying, exorcisms…pretty much all the monsters that lived under your bed as a child…you can hire Kait to defeat them. When she’s not slaying “monsters” she’s still hunting and killing “bad guys,” NOT humans.
We’re introduced to Kait in book one while she’s on a job. Once finished she’s exhausted, and just wants to crash, instead she’s approached by the local Alpha (the rival Alpha of her ex-Alpha) in fact. He offers her a job at triple her normal going rate. Kait, understandably hates Alphas…but a girls gotta eat, right? So Kait takes the job, and that’s how she meets the Alpha that will change her life and perspective on wolves, Jared. She doesn’t want to be attracted to the infuriating, or arrogant Alpha, but her inner wolf wants him. As a hobbled wolf she can feel and speak to her wolf but can never shift, it’s constant agony for Kait. And she’s endured it for 12 years! Alpha Jared offers her money and something she can’t pass up…the chance to free her wolf i.e. bring forth her hobbled wolf so she can shift from woman to wolf. But before that can happen Kait has to figure out what’s killing Jared’s wolves and kill it.
The following books all pick up where the last one ended, so you really have to read these books in sequential order, or the story won’t make sense. Laken Cane crafts a terrific tale with believable, lovable and heroic characters. Even when the heroes have a little black staining their souls :)
The reader, follows, Kait through her “misadventures “ jobs, life crises, and basically all the trouble that she inevitably gets into. Jared is there with her, and his character development is really well crafted. Kaits character also sees a lot of “growth” through the series, as she navigates increasingly troubled waters. This is a great paranormal romance, especially if you’re fans of werewolf or vampire and werewolf books. During the course of the series a lot of different paranormal species are introduced, but it never takes away from the overall story arc, only enhances it. The “cast of characters,,” are funny, witty, sarcastic, violent, snarky and downright unpretentiously themselves :) and the villains…well wow! You have to read the books to find out. Suffice to say nothing is absolutely black and white, and the villains in this series match the “heroes” perfectly!
Laken Cane gives us a fantastic couple with Kait and Jared. And you will be up all night reading these books because you can’t put them down.
I really enjoyed the series and read right through to the end, even though the author kept some of the secrets a few books too long for my liking. I’d have given it 5 stars even, if it wasn’t for the fact that several questions are raised in the last book and are never addressed. I got to the final chapter and wondered if there was supposed to be another book. Things needed to be cleared up, like; Where did her magic come from? Do all seers have magic? What effect did the cave magic have on them all? What happened to the detective? Etc.
Then, the more those questions played on my mind, the longer I considered other aspects of the story and realised that many things were touched upon but never really expanded or given any depth. Like the love story itself; it just felt a little flat. So while I enjoyed the ride and gave it four stars, it possibly only deserves three. The books are underdeveloped and need work, despite being full of potential.
Kait is a character that has as many layers as an onion.
I really liked this series. I mean a shifter that can turn into humans & animals. Kait also has magic & can absorb other species magic. She is part wolf/demon/shapeshifter. I love how people are drawn to her & want to protect her. She develops her own pack where anyone is welcome. She has allies in the vampires which are supposed to be her mortal enemies. She gains a wolf pack & boyfriend. She also befriends a hunter who hate anything but humans. She befriends a detective & the city mayor. Lastly she decides to work for the council made up of old & powerful paranormals. Along the series Kait learns the horrible truth behind her parents & why she can't remember much about them. I can't wait to keep reading the remaining books in the series.
This is one of the best series I have read in a long while. If you like kickass women, love and romance and sci-fi then this series is for you. Kait Silver is a one of a kind badass who does not back down from any challenge and bonus...she is good to the core! She takes on all kinds of badies in these books but most importantly she comes to know and accept who she is in her entirety. Following along with all of her adventures is easy and the only hard thing about reading this series is the fact that you don’t want to put it down.
If you want a series that will grab a hold of you and keep you riveted throughout then you need to read this series. This is actually the second time I've read it and it still had me hooked. The characters are fascinating, they're not shiny and perfect but broken and hurting and they fight despite or even in spite of that, flawed humans. Obviously there are things that I'd have loved moinfo on but it's always that way with a great book, I won't say more as I don't want to ruin the story for new readers. Needless to say, I highly recommend this series.
Kait Silver: The Complete Series, books one through five of the Kait Silver series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This collection includes Broken Moon (1), Blood Magic (2), Bold Mercy (3), Bad Medicine (4), and Beautiful Madness (5). As you'd expect over a five book compilation--a lot happens. The writer segued beautifully from story to story and I read the 1400 pages over three or four days. Lots of surprises, great plotting, and characters you really love to love, or hate. Loved the read.
This is a fun series. The main character Kait Silver, grows as a person and learns. . . so so much. There is a wonderful and diverse cast of supporting characters. Allies grow organically. The villains are fun. Some are obvious and others initially appear as friends or even allies. And then there are those ambiguous actors, neither truly allies unless their goals alone with Kait's, nor truly villains.. Good series. Very enjoyable read.
This series was an exercise in frustration for me. I could see so much potential with each of the 5 books in the series( which was why I kept on hanging in there and reading on😏-very sneaky, Ms. Cane😉) And then they would just kind of Peter out for the most part. Everything from the found family group to the love interests to magic system, mystery and background were almost there, but we just couldn't get a delivery on all that promise. 🤷♀️
This was a very interesting & well put together piece of literature. Loved the characters and the story line was complete, with no unfinished business. The love story was wonderful and romantic without being too smutty. Lol excellent read and would totally recommend.
This book series sucks you in and doesn't let you go until the end. Lots of action , humor, and characters to love and hate. Just as tv junkies binge watch their favorite shows, I binged read this series lost in the world of Kait Silver. Don't miss out read this series.
There are no words on how to describe this series! The imagination of the writer is out of this world! The more you read it, the better it gets! I can honestly say that i couldn’t put the book down. You have to read the whole series. I don’t want to spoil it, you have to find out by yourself!
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this series. The characters were unique and relatable even though they were mostly nonhuman. They were anxious, joyful, flawed, and struggling to be the best they could be. I think this series would appeal to anyone who likes paranormal fiction.
Sounds strange to have that as a heading, but seriously,..It's nice to just read a book, and enjoy the story, without people going at it like rabbits all the time. It was a great saga in the story of Kait's life, I would have loved an epilogue. I suppose that there was one, in a way..kinda. I'll just have to hope for some spin-off, or something..
I'm definitely not a wordsmith or I would give the series higher praise. The stories were all unique and interesting. I totally ignored housework and cooking while enjoying the books. Now, unfortunately, I've got a lot of cleaning to do. Can't wait to read more of Laken Cane's works.
This series has everything. It gets you in your feelings, brings you to dark, light, and grey places. All the different monsters are here and they all have something to give and take. Can't recommend this series more.
I absolutely loved this series! It kept me really interested, and loved the character development. I just wanted to read it all the way through. I would love to try some of this author's other series! I would highly recommend this series!
This was one of the better written series I’ve read. It was a delight that the characters unfolded and flowed with the story. Just because it is an older series, don’t dismiss it. It is an excellent investment in reading time. Congratulations to the author!
This was an Amazon recommendation and it was well worth it. I could not put this story down and really want more to it. If you are looking for fast paced, edge of your seat supernatural excitement this is it. Wait Silver is now a new favorite of mine!
This series sucked me in from the first page and kept me enthralled throughout the entire story! I can’t wait to find more books by Laken Cane and dive into those!
Read all 5 books in 3 days. It was a good time! There were some minor editing errors, but that only detracted a little from the fast-paced, found family adventures.
