A collection of one hundred top columns by the popular Sports Illustrated humorist relates numerous aspects of everyday life to sports, in a volume that shares his observations on such topics as the Democratic convention, athlete criminal activities, and reality television.
Admittedly this book is not for everyone and it is, at this point, largely outdated. It is, however, a great read for fans of humor and sports, not separately but combined. The book is a collection of Scheft's "column" (essentially a list of sports-related jokes) in Sports Illustrated or ESPN Magazine. Scheft, a former writer for David Letterman, brings his quick-hitting humor to the sports stories of the day. As a former sportswriter I appreciated the refresher on past events as well as Scheft's joke-writing skills.
