The authors of Ancient Secrets of the Bible combine eyewitness accounts, reports of mysterious artifacts and government cover-ups, top-secret photographs, and other evidence to claim that Noah's Ark has been found. Original.
Charles Sellier was a writer, producer, and director in the independent film industry. In a career spanning from the 1970s to the late 2000s, Sellier wrote and produced dozens of family-friendly TV series and movies, many of them with faith-based themes ranging from The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams to The Lincoln Conspiracy and The Search for Noah's Ark. In 1980 he was nominated for an Emmy for his work on children's TV film The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Authors Charles Selliger and David Balsiger wrote in the first chapter of this 1995 book, “The very idea of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat seems farfetched… Critics… scoff at the biblical account as mere legend… Mount Ararat could indeed be the resting place of the ark of Noah that the Bible claims saved mankind and the animal species from the devastating global flood described in Genesis. Still, this is one mystery in which answering questions only raises more. If it's Noah’s Ark, why all the secrecy by our government? Does disclosing the photographs of this wooden boat endanger U.S. national security? What scientific evidences substantiates the incredible claims that Noah’s ark not only exists but has been found on a mountaintop? How could a wooden ship possibly survive to the present day when many ancient cities made of stone have already crumbled into rubble?... How could Noah… build a giant vessel sturdy enough to survive a cataclysmic worldwide flood? Where did he get his engineering plans and tools to build the Ark? And where is the evidence that the flood described in Genesis even occurred?” (Pg. 3-4)
They quote Gene Faulstich, founder of the Chronology History Research Institute in Iowa: “[We are] using astronomical data and historical data from the Bible and other ancient manuscripts. The ancients kept very accurate and detailed records of their observations of the sun, moon, and sky. .. by examining the astronomical information recorded by these ancient astronomers, it’s possible for us to determine on our calendar when these events actually took place… based on Noah’s records found in the Genesis account, and astronomical computer analysis, we have determined that he began building the Ark in 2465 B.C., with the first rains falling in 2345 B.C.’” (Pg. 14-15)
Atmospheric scientist Larry Vardiman states, “The idea of a water vapor or canopy surrounding the earth sounds somewhat bizarre… But actually, canopies are quite common among the planets of our solar system. Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn all have cloud canopies and thick gaseous envelopes surrounding them. Unlike the clouds and gases are made up of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen, helium and ammonia…. The vapor canopy would have precipitated at most 40 feet of water directly… Soon after the Flood, precipitation would have turned to snow on high mountains and in the polar regions causing the ‘ice age.’” (Pg. 56-57)
The report, “Frank Neff… was one of the many people in Texas who had seen the photos of the ark on Mount Ararat. When he found out that researchers were looking for copies of the photos, he remarked that had thought [George Jefferson] Greene had kept duplicates in a manila envelope in a storage unit he had rented there in Texas. Ark researcher Eryl Cummings went to the storage unit with Neff only to find that it had been broken into and ransacked just ten days before…. The contents of the once well-organized shelves had been unceremoniously dumped into a great scattered heap in the middle of the floor. For what had the vandals been searching? Had a certain large---and vitally important---manila envelope been among the items the robbers had carried away? … The copies of the photos were never found…” (Pg. 207-208)
They note that in 1989, “Immanuel Expeditions, headed by helicopter pilot Chuck Aaron …announced to Turkish media on September 21 that it had found and photographed the ark. The story was carried on Turner’s Cable News Network and by the major wire services. Aaron displaying video footage and still photographs of an ‘ark object’ located on the west side of Ararat at 14,500 feet, was quoted in both UPI and AP stories that he was ‘one hundred percent certain’ that what they had photographed from the helicopter were the remains of Noah’s Ark. Aaron’s premature press announcement caused him disappointment and embarrassment as a second flying trip around the site revealed it was only a phenomenon of nature that assumed a very arklike shape.” (Pg. 245)
They conclude, “No one inside or outside the ark would conceive of the enormity of the calamity that was to come---not even Noah. This is more than just a story about a worldwide Flood and a mysterious 5,000-year-old shipwreck under the ice near the top of a mountain in Turkey. This is the story of an extraordinary man of conviction and faith who faced and overcame incredible odds to accomplish the seemingly impossible task God had given him. Noah took what could be called the ‘ultimate leap of faith,’ and his courage is a message as powerful today as it was when his ship ‘docked’ on a radically changed earth. Noah’s life and his 5000-year-old ship anchored in ice serve as a powerful testimony that God always keeps His word. There’s more to the incredible discovery of Noah’s ark than the remains of the great ship on Mount Ararat. There’s the personal discovery of those timeless lessons of courage and faith for us all.” (Pg. 331-332)
This is not a ‘Christian’ TV program; and, like most TV documentaries, it focuses on the ‘visual’ and ‘provocative’ aspects of the story, rather than the merely ‘scientific/historical’ ones. It IS entertaining, however.
NOTE: these same authors wrote an earlier book in 1975, that was the basis for the 1976 TV movie, 'In Search of Noah's Ark.'
That's how people try to affirm their superstitions inventing totally crazy theories only to save what is impossible to save i.e. belief in flood on all of the Earth.
