Though a relatively new phenomenon, there are an increasing number of evidence-based programmes (EBPs) in children's services which are used to address things such as family breakdown, crime and antisocial behaviour, mental health, and emotional well-being. In this book, the contributors provide an accessible overview of such programmes, with reference to existing models. These insights will enhance professional understanding and aid the successful implementation of EBPs. This · provides a definition of EBPs · assesses the standards of evidence used to identify them · examines approaches to developing and testing EBPs · considers the factors that contribute to their successful implementation · addresses critiques · analyses costs and benefits · assesses alternative approaches to using evidence to improve practice and outcomes. Evidence-based Programmes in Children's Services is an important resource for those working in child social work, education, child and adolescent mental health, and youth justice.
