Dyma Rita. Mae Rita’n ferch fach â syniadau mawr. Pan mae’n diflasu wrth orfod gwisgo amdani, mae’n dychmygu bod ganddi dylwythen deg. Byddai’r dylwythen yn chwifio’i ffon hud – wwsh! – ond beth fyddai diwedd hyn i gyd?
Rita is a young girl with a big imagination. She needs to get dressed but doesn’t want to so she has an idea. Perhaps having a Fairy Godmother would be a good choice as she could wave her wand and Rita would be dressed. However, the more she thinks about it, the more unsure she is that having a Fairy Godmother is a good idea.
The book is part of the ‘Rita Wants’ series, in which young Rita comes up with ideas to make her life easier or more exciting, but not all her ideas are good.
The story is amusing, engaging, and quick to read. The pages are filled with illustrations that are colourful and enjoyable to look at.
Rita wants a Fairy Godmother is another fab book in a fast-growing series that I can see young children enjoying immensely as well as laughing along with Rita’s dawn of realisations about what could happen if her wishes come true.
This is another great book from the Rita series. Rita wants a lot of things, but this time she wants a fairy godmother because Rita needs to get dressed and a fairy godmother could dress her up instantly. A fairy godmother could give her the right outfit for any occasion, but what if the fairy godmother decides that Rita should only wear pretty dresses? This picture book is a paperback filled with thick matt pages of some very colourful illustrations and text.
fter Rita decides that she wants a fairy godmother we see her imagining all the wonderful outfits that she could instantly be dressed in by her fairy godmother if she had one. Like magic she could change into any outfit she wants. However soon it becomes clear that a fairy godmother might not be the best for Rita to have after all. The story is quite simple but I love just how silly things get for Rita when the fairy godmother decides that Rita should wear princess-like outfits. Soon Rita finds herself in all sorts of funny and frustrating, for her, situations which are shown through the amazing illustrations. I love how detailed and lovely the illustrations are with Rita ending up in funny situations where she doesn’t want to be, I especially love the scene towards the end with a knight.
ach page is so colourful with lovely images that make some of Rita’s outfits look extra lovely and sparkly. I love the mix of media in the pictures, what look like really beautiful. For example there are bright orange flower photos layered upon the illustrations to create a really amazing image. I love Rita’s expressions in this book, often looking grumpy, and the final picture wraps up the story well. I like what Rita learns about getting dressed and how this book’s story reflects exactly what some children are like when they are told to do something like getting dressed. Overall this is another lovely book in the Rita series and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book where Rita wants a dragon! 🙂 -Thanks to Graffeg for a free copy.
