Alpha Colin Freeman has a problem on his hands. He found a break in the compound fencing and worries the lives of his pack are in danger. Werewolf Liam Crawford has come to Colorado to find out who killed his sister. He wants answers and he’s determined to get them. Two men, one pack. Both men looking for answers- neither expecting what they found.
My muse Jaymes has explained that it is a normal part of any author's website to have a little personal information by way of introduction. And while I would prefer to remain in the realm of the imagination I will throw out a little about myself.
I am in my late forties with a 17 year old daughter who loves to tell anyone who will listen that I am technically, technically challenged. I make a living using a computer yet I can be hamstrung by the words ERROR showing up on the computer screen. I am so glad I can provide entertainment to the teens of Northern Virginia as well as adult M/M romance readers. Multitasking to the nth degree in my little corner of the world. LOL
I have been writing since I was 12. I wrote my first romance at 16 and have never looked back. I have been writing for 30 plus years.
I love the beach, hate the heat. I was born in Virginia but my heart longs for North Carolina. My sign is Cancer and it fits me to a Tee. I do not stand out in a crowd because I don't do crowds. I'd rather watch the people IN the crowd from a safe distance. I'm the one with the long auburn hair, dark sunglasses and a smile. I was told to be brief so there you are. A little bit about me.
Were Lost is a tantalizing little treat for the senses. Colin and Liam’s story is sweet and tender, and the fire between is left more to the imagination than delivered with any graphic detail. What I would love to see more of, however, is substance within their relationship as well as with other pack members. An exploration into their hearts and minds, as well as passion and intrigue will make this series very hard to resist.

Rating: 4/10
PROS: - The setting is interesting--a future society in which werewolves live in secluded areas set off by the government, similar to reservations. - There’s something sweet about Colin’s immediate need to protect Liam and shelter him from the cruelty of the world. - I had to chuckle at how matter-of-fact the men are when they have the “you’re my mate” discussion.
CONS: - There’s a lot of telling rather than showing. This sentence occurs early on, for instance: “His run today included checking out the four secret caves that his pack could escape to if they were being hunted.” But that’s all we get on the topic; we don’t get to see him actually doing the checking. We don’t know what he was looking for, what the caves are like, what sort of provisions he has in place, and so on. - The dialogue doesn’t sound natural. It contains a lot of context clues that seem aimed at delivering information to the reader but don’t sound as though they belong in the conversation. The most obvious example of this is frequent identification of the character being spoken to: “We’ll work it out, Robert”; “Colin, you look worried.” “I am, Greg”; “No doubt about it, Mark”; etc. At one point, this happens four separate times on a single Kindle page. - The writing contains quite a bit of unnecessary repetition, like this: “He was a good-looking man to be sure. Five foot ten, hazel eyes, and dark blond hair. Yep, he was a very handsome young man.”
Overall comments: The setting here has an interesting angle to it, but that element isn’t developed enough to overcome the run-of-the-mill storyline and the amateurish writing. This also isn’t going to be your cup of tea if you’re opposed to instalove stories: there’s absolutely no fighting the mate bond here on the part of either man.
I definitely appreciated the thought that went into the background of this story, and the way all of the pieces weaved in and out of eachother to bring all of the players together for the stand-off and fight between were and human at the end. Aeryn has written a story packed with knowledge and fast-forwarded into the future, so artistic licence has given freedom in the way the weres background has been created.
The character of Liam is well thought out and built up from the first introduction, with the reader feeling each and every emotion as he would. Liam is believable in his grief and believable in his desire for a better future, so this, as well as the whole mate thing, makes the one week timeframe easy to swallow. I had some trouble falling into and believing the character of Colin, Alpha of the Raeford/Solon pack. He felt, at times, like his response was made to suit the story line rather than the character. There were also plenty of supporting characters, all of whom were well placed and connected.
This is a good shifting story and has a very exciting fight scene involving a secondary were pack along with assistance from the local sheriff. It will be interesting to see where Aeryn goes next. Nx

At just 75 pages (according to my iPad) Ms. Traxx manages to pack a lot into her Were Lost story, but very little of it felt satisfying. It seemed that this book was used to introduce threads that she planned on using in subsequent books, but it left me hanging and unsatisfied. I wish she would had combined this book with the next one to have enough real estate to tell a fuller story. I wish I liked the book better, but I give Were Lost two stars.
The premise was interesting, the shifters almost believable in their realism, and the characters kept my interest. I liked that this story was set in the future, which allowed for a few adaptations in how society works. There were a few purely personal things that kicked me out of the storyline a few times, but overall it was aquick read with lots of action.
Way too short for the story set up. Pretty much no romance, just immediate mating. Lots of backstory presented but not really followed through. This could all be coming in future installments, of course.
All in all, I had too many problems with this story for it to be a very satisfying read.
2nd time around reading this since at first I couldn't remember if I read it (clearly I had). The story was very simple and straight forward. For the start of a series this was a good introduction outlining how the shifter's in this world lived. However, there was nothing in this story that distinguished it from any other generic shifter tale out there.
I liked that the struggle was not relationship based between the two main characters but was external requiring them to work together to protect the pack.
