I am a suspense and paranormal romance author living in Edmond, Oklahoma. I have three grown children. My passions are reading, writing, wearing pajamas, and watching (or rewatching) my favorite television shows such as The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Justified, and Dexter. I am a huge MLB and Elvis Presley fan. I usually mention one or both in every novel and short story I write. :-)
Heath and Nicolette’s story hit close to home. There are many relationships that have failed because of public perception. Where one important person dies and the others left to pick up the pieces are shunned when it developed into love, the people wondering all along if the new couple weren’t so new at all.
The police made me mad when they hinted at impropriety between Nicolette and Heath not only currently but in the past while she was still a married woman. Knowing Heath loved her years ago, I wanted to slug him for never going after her. He came to her aide, a knight to her distress and began to unravel the case faster than the cops could.
I only hoped when all was said and done they could be the couple they should’ve been fifteen years ago. This is a story of finding love again, healing from the past, and a widow coming to terms with not knowing who her husband was.
Another great read from Alicia Dean. This book, like all of Alicia Dean’s books, will keep you reading from front to back. I like romance books with some crime mixed in, and this book hit the spot. Nicolette is a strong character, who tries to hide her dead husbands past. She’s also a suspect in his alleged murder. Heath, who has loved Nicolette since college and was best friends with Nicolette’s deceased husband, has come back to town to see his family for Christmas. He owns a security company. He becomes involved in investigating her husband’s death on his own to try to clear her. There are a lot of sneaky things going on in this town. Not only does Heath have to figure out if Nicolette’s husband was murdered, but he also has to find out who’s blackmailing her. You have to read this book to find out all the evil that is lurking around. I would recommend this book to everyone.
“Chalk it up to the Christmas spirit, I guess.” “Right. Or, the fact that you’re just a really, really good guy.” Heath grinned down at her. “Yeah, there is that.”
Heath is truly a good guy…a sexy, smooth good guy who doesn’t need to be the center of attention. He keeps his distance from his college crush no matter how it pains him. She did become a widow less than a year ago. What he doesn’t know is that her feelings reciprocate. Ms. Dean has a talent for making her stories real and pulling the reader in. This isn’t the first Alicia Dean novel I’ve read, and it won’t be the last.
A charming, spicy holiday romance by a talented multi-published author.
