It may seem more than slightly bizarre that I, as a non-teacher read this but it has completed a little roll of teaching related books - first a very negative (but very, very funny!) view from the coal face about the state of teaching and society today, It's Your Time You're Wasting: A Teacher's Tale of Classroom Hell, followed by what's gone wrong with Maths teaching specifically/how Maths should be being taught in The Elephant In The Classroom: Helping Children Learn And Love Maths and I thought I should round off with what a good teacher is like and a more positive view. It looks like a useful book for those in the profession and a lot of thought about how to improve an individual's teaching skills but not quite so relevant to someone like myself. Well written and interesting nevertheless.
