American Freestyle Karate: A Guide to Sparring

Rate this book
American Freestyle Karate is the tag Dan Anderson gave this method of instruction to convey the idea of a non-oriental approach to karate. Rather than the idea of a set style which is passed from master to senior student, Anderson likens his studio and training method to that of a boxing gym headed by a particular trainer.

Bought this for a friend. I think it's out of print so I got a used one. I read it first over 20 years ago and it helped me in my own personal martial arts training and competitions, as well as being a guidebook for lessons to teach to my students. Timeless skills and strategies are shown and well-explained. I even had a few training sessions with the author and he autographed my original copy.
