It took me a few days to finally mark this book as done because I was stuck between 4 and 3 stars. It's got a pretty good, if not interesting, story, but it totally bombs on the ending. Mystery, science, action, and religious corruption in a post-apocalyptic world!
It only finishes what feels like a side story and leaves the main plot hanging. Like, it was supposed to be 25-50 pages longer, but hit a page limit or something.
I think this book deserves a spot on your shelf and mine because it's a good example of the bare minimum a post-apocalyptic story should be plot-wise, not depth-wise. So many post-apocalyptic books go on and on about suffering instead of the action and cool stuff that's actually happening.
