Lake District Mountain Biking follows the well-loved Vertebrate mountain bike guide formula, 24 varied routes with clear maps and route-finding tips packaged up in a compact 200 pages.

You can tell why this guide has been revised for its third edition. There's a great selection of beginner and intermediate routes, spread out nicely over the central and southern lake district.

I appreciated that the guide included interesting routes for all levels of riders. It might have been easy to leave beginners behind but the routes in the guide offer a nice progression. The routes also offer thoughtful alternatives to well-known routes. Some of the suggestions in the southern lakes will take you well-away from the busy tourist areas.

New in the third edition are two new routes and also a very short section about routes suitable for gravel or e-bikes. The new routes live up to the standard of the existing editions but probably are not worth purchasing the updated version just for those.

Overall the guide won't disappoint as a source of inspiration in the living room and a practical route-finding tool in the field. Definitely recommended.

This is a new, revised edition of this fantastic guidebook. If you are heading to the Lake District with your mountain bike, this book is essential! There is a wide variety of routes, depending on level of difficulty, so whether you're feeling energetic or would rather have a less frantic day out, this book is for you.

We did the third route from the guidebook yesterday and can confirm that it was a fabulous ride. The route is really well explained so there's no chance of getting lost. We thought the Lake District would be really busy in August, but on this route we only came across two other people (also on MTBs).

The views were stunning and the level of difficulty was spot on (this one was not too technical, but did involve quite a lot of ascending!).

I love the photos throughout the guidebook and the maps are great. You'll find all the information you need for a successful trip to the lakes with your mountain bike.

An excellent compact book which will inspire any mountain bikers local to the Lake District or further afield to get out and explore. 24 rides ranging from 12 km - 60 km will test even the toughest biker, and includes many of the classic descents in the area, The routes are broken down into sections which are paired with a reproduction of an OS 1:50000 map, which is very useful for planning and navigation on the hoof. Inspiring pictures are included everywhere throughout the book as you would expect.
A particular highlight is the section dedicated to the top 10 single track, with a link to each relevant section in the book. Plenty of logistic information is also included to help plan access and tourist information/bike shops etc.

An excellent book to inspire you to get out on your mbk in the Lake District!
