Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold

My review of this novel is based solely on content. I read the unedited advance copy, therefore editing will not be mention in this review.

This novel is nonstop drama that will make your head spin. I thought the culprit should have just been named Satan the Devil reincarnate because he was just pure evil. I would hate to think that any of the crimes he committed against women have been done in the real world; they were that horrific.

Vasthai James is a Japanese- African American woman. At first glance you think she has the perfect life. Married to a predominant doctor, Patrick James, Vasthai has three kids and is a house wife. Only as the story progresses we see the book title is perfect and fits her to a tee. Not only just Vasthai but all the victims, they all are the epitome of damaged goods.

Vasthai’s oldest son is sentenced to twenty years for rape, and after serving three years he has an encounter that leads him to write his mother a letter. With this letter Pandora’s Box is open and she has to reveal her deepest secrets to her son. Hell bent on revenge she leaves home to visit her son and plants seeds for the ultimate revenge. A the supporting cast is then brought into the fold - a defense attorney Kennedy Scott, Kennedy's mom Phoenix, an Assistant District Attorney Monica Kennedy, Vasthai son Tyrone James and her husband Patrick James. As the story develops it becomes evident that everyone is connected. There is not one useless character in this novel. We also learn the apple doesn’t fall to far from the tree, you all will see what I mean by that. The story flowed very well and had shock value attached to it. My gripe is that a lot of the story just seemed impossible; to believe that one person could cause that much havoc on so many people. Another thing was the time frame; how could Vasthai be gone for over three months with not more opposition from her husband as he is forced take care of their kids? It was also a little confusing to have two characters with Kennedy in their name that should have never happened.

However, if you’re looking for a drama-filled novel this is for you. I have to give credit that she left no loose ends and tied up the story very well. The connection between the characters will leave you shaking your head in disbelief and that’s not a bad thing.

Nice read Nikki did her thang with Vasthai has revenge on her heart as she uses everyone she knowns to help her with her plan. With her son Tyrone in prison serving time for rape. Vasthai set out to get back at the man that raped her when she was younger. Taking advanctage and using other people these people start to come together due that they had venge in their hearts also.

Find out more and more about Vasthai and other characters pass. I was in aww at how you find yourself at the edge of your seat finding out more secrets as you go.

Nikki did good can't wait to read Jada's Diary soon. :)

Watch out for a woman scorned.Vasthai was just a kid when she was brutally raped. From that day forward she had nothing but revenge on the brain.Fast forward years later Vasthai has it all a loving husband and a family that adores her.Her oldest son goes out and does the unthinkable.Thats right he rapes a girl and is sentenced to prison.History must have repeated itself because he is a product of rape.Omg the drama yes I said it drama. Not to give away to much of the story this is a very good read and I am looking forward to also reading Jade's diary which is on my kindle on my tbr list.

After reading this I'M sure that Ms Urban has been DAMAGED...The story was so similar to Jade's Diary that the two novels have to be a parody of someone's life... The underlining sickness that was displayed in both novels was not really addressed. Especially as it took place in an African American community....Which in itself is TABOO to speak on..... I can honestly say I relate on some levels of the plot but in REALITY luck would not align itself with such a SERIES OF FORTUNE....THIS is a good read for a YOUNG ADULT BOOK CLUB...AS A TEACHING TOOL...

This book grips you from the very first page. Ms. Urban told a gripping, sad, complex, and mind boggling story. It was original in that it wasn't but had great unexpected twist and turns. This is a story of revenge from "THE MASSES". Yes, this revenge plot is from one but includes many. It is a truly eye opening story that some people "NEVER" change. Nikki shows in great detail that you truly do reap what you sow and that sometimes only revenge can set you free.

This book moved fast and had lots of imaginative scheming going on. Definite fiction, no way I could see something like that played out in real life and actually being pulled off successfully. There were some grammatical errors and names being mixed up but other than that the story was definitely interesting. Not a dull moment to even have a chance to get bored. If the story sounded more plausible and was edited better I'd have definitely increased my rating.
