Peter Gregory is a well-respected playwright with an endless array of quirks. Hired to write a screenplay about a screen goddess who committed suicide fifty years ago, Peter begins to unravel the truth about her life and death. Along the way, he meets people who either want to help him in his quest or end it, even if it means putting an end to Peter. Does he stand a ghost of a chance?
This was an interesting take on Hollywood, focusing on Old Hollywood in the Golden Age. A mystery 50 years old of the apparent suicide of Hollywood's reigning sex goddess, a quirky writer obsessed by her, and the Hollywood mogul who wants to tell her story.
This story has plenty of twists and turns, some very memorable characters, and moves along at a good pace. I liik forward to reading more in this series.
I enjoyed this book when it described "old Hollywood". However, it left a lot of unanswered questions for me with the characters. This didn't detract from the story but would have made it much better if the author explained the characters reasoning. There was a twist toward the end that I saw coming but was still good.
